Fire Turns Hundreds of Houses into Ashes

Yesterday (feb 23, 2010) a fire leaves hundreds of family homeless in Barangays Labangon and Tisa, Cebu City. The Cebu Fire department received the call around 4:03 PM yesterday and placed under control after 40 minutes. It was raised to the third alarm. The firetruck had a hard time getting to the fire scene because of small way.

Affected families were provided a temporary shelter in La Paloma Gymnasium and in vacant lots. The City Government also provid tents.

It is really hard to be of those who are affected by house fire because you need to start over. It will take time especially if you don't have the resources. Thanks to the local government who always there to help the affected families.

Illegally Placed Campaign Posters in Cebu Turn Down

The Election campaign had just started while candidates for the national and local positions are busying on creating visibility to the public. Most of the higher position candidates have their campaign ads on television, radio, and posters in streets. It is one big way to be able to introduce themselves to the public about their interests in running for public office

In Cebu, illegally-placed campaign paraphernalia like posters, banners and streamers that exceeded the standard size were also taken down. Those posters that are place in prohibited areas like trees, wires, public school buildings are eyed by the COMELEC (Commission on Election) officials. The Cebu Comelec officials starts to look and take down down illegally-place campaign materials from provincial capitol down to Basilica del Sto. Nino.

This is a good move by comelec officials here in Cebu because posting of campaign materials in non-designated areas may contribute street accident. Like if posters are placed wires, it might fall down and hit pedestrian. It is best to look on the welfare and benefit of the public before placing those campaign materials. Good Job!!!

Asiatown I.T. Park Cebu

I.T. Park in Lahug, Cebu City is like a center of BPO industry in Cebu. There are many call centers located in this area in different buildings.

I.T. Park has many fastfood restaurant like McDonalds, Jolibee, KFC, among others. It's an easy access for any contact center agent to eat in this fast food chain because it is just close to the area.

Big call center companies located in the area are Aegis People Support, Convergys, Qualfon, Stream eTelecare, Xlibris, etc.. These companies help employ a lot of Cebuanos and provides excellent compensation.

When you are in the Asiatown I.T. park you would leel ike you are in Makati Business District. It is because most of the buildings are occupied by BPO, banks, and other business offices. The area is also close to the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City.

Other people were enjoying different activities like watching concerts, food tripping, drinking session, watching the Sinulog Festival, watching fireworks in the evening, and etc..

Cebuanos want more celebration, more activities and more gimmicks for the "barkadas". We are like craving for it. Actually after the sinulog Celebration, we will be celebrating the Day of Hearts. "The Valentines Day". A special day where we need to show to the person loved that we truly care, love and they are an important part of our life.
